This Weeks Bible Question:

What is your opinion of non-resistance, war, and your support of the army in relation to Jesus' teachings of love and peace?

Bible Questions with Michael Pearl. A weekly show that answers all questions about the Bible - but don't come looking for his opinion - because only the Word of God will suffice. Taking away the mysticism of what the Bible says we present to you some questions most every American Christian has - along with stranger topics like angels, wizards, giants, and creation. Submit your question to biblequestions@nogreaterjoy.org or call and leave a brief question at (931) 805-4820.

Jonathan James, 22-12-09 19:36:
Mike's answer, while logical and true, did not get to the heart of the question in my opinion. What is your view on use of force? Do you believe in non-resistance? I have read where you don't believe in resisting government, but I also remember your argument for self-defense. I would like to hear more of your thoughts and Bible teaching on this more specifically.
Cris, 14-01-10 13:54:
Agreed, Jonathan.
If someone were to break into my house and accost my wife and children, my immediate response would be, "where's my bat." Is that how Christ would have me respond? As father of 7 in a nation becoming increasingly anti-Christian, this unfortunately has become an issue at the front of my noggin.

God has set the civil authorities in place and punishes evil-doers thru them. What is the clear scriptural teaching regarding violent self-defense and violence used to defend others?

Is violent defense of our homeland right for believers in Christ? If so, why is there seemingly no record of this during Rome's persecution of 1st century Christians?

Help me out, this is a real question for me too. It's not a "what feels right" question....it's a question of what does God want me to do....period.

My feelings will get over it.

Thanks.
