I came into the house as darkness drew near. I had been out feeding the animals and was tired from a day’s work. I sat down, pulled my boots off, leaned back in the old recliner and closed my eyes for some rest. I had only been there a few minutes when my 2-year-old daughter began her climb into my lap. I kept my eyes closed, pretending to be asleep.
She finally worked her way into my lap and said “Open your eyes, Daddy”. I opened only one eye. She said, “Open the other eye”. I did, but closed the other eye. We played this little game several times with me leaving only one eye open at a time. Finally, she got weary of my playing and said, “Open two eyes, Daddy!” So I did, and then I grabbed her, kissed her all over as she laughed and giggled and squirmed. This went on for a few more minutes and she was off to do something else, but by this time there were two more children ready to take her place for their nightly romp on Daddy’s lap. I sure am glad that they love their daddy, because I sure do love them!
Are you walking through life with one eye open? Men, when it comes to your kids, you had better have both eyes open. This world we live in is competing for your children, and the world is surely trying to make it look appealing to them. You had better have those little hearts loving you and wanting to please you. If you don’t make them part of your world as they grow up, they will wander off to see the world for themselves, and leave you wondering what happened.
Keep both eyes open at all times so that they’ll know Daddy is watching, and that he is watching because he cares.

This was so good! I played with my kids when they were still babies, but I wish I would have kept that up as they got older. This article is even more relevant as the modern technology has crept in to take up more and more time and attention.
I wish parents in this updated world would take time with their children before checking FB or playing their video games, or etc.
